Andy Findlay's article in last week's issue of AT about adding a few more pellets to a Method feeder to help improve your catch-rates proves that the tiniest tweak often makes all the difference.

Long Ranger
Andy Findlay has bagged two wins fishing at over 90 metres using some very Stiki Method feeder tactics.
The Leicester-based ace was enjoying a rich run of victories thanks to his casting prowess and accuracy, setting a new match record at Packington's Geary's lake with 149lb 14oz, but felt he could put more of a gap between him and his competitors with some bespoke long range casting tackle.
"My usual kit could get me out a reasonably long way, but I was struggling to retain the accuracy at longer distances," Andy tells us. "I decided upon a visit to Preston Innovations' headquarters for a look at the Dutch Master Carbonactive rods, to see which would suit my casting style the best.
"I teamed this with a PXR Power 5000 reel and 6lb Power Max line and I had an awesome setup for putting the Method feeder well beyond 90 metres."
Andy picked up his first long range win at Packington, using a mix of Sonubaits' 2mm Fin Feed pellets, Match Method Mix and Stiki Pellet on the Method feeder. He managed 75lb of carp in windy conditions, using a 45g feeder, size 16 PR38 hook and either soft hooker pellets or punched luncheon meat on Korum Quickstop hair rigs.
"The bait mix I'm using stays glued to the feeder even at that kind of distance. It's a real edge to know you're fishing effectively at range."
Andy then took more conventional pole tactics to Makins for the Winter League match, bagging 111lb on hard 8mm Fin Feed Pellets on the pole.

Andy Findlay has continued his rich vein of form with two further wins in recent weeks at the Higham Lane Summer League in Leicestershire.
Andy won round 1 using a Method feeder and mould with 2mm Fin Perfect Feed Pellets bound together with a prototype Sonubaits ingredient that makes your pellets ultra sticky.
"I had 89lb 12oz on the Method using an 8mm S Pellet on Korum Quickstop hair rigs," Andy reveals. "My PR36 hooks and Reflo Power hooklinks were more than strong enough for the big, hard fighting carp at Higham Lane."
So good, in fact, that Andy returned a few days later for round two, this time beating the opposition to weigh in with 124lb of carp.
"This time I caught using the smallest Pellet Feeder with softened 2mm Fin Perfect Feed Pellets, using a 6mm Ton-Up Expander on the hair.
"I find the Pellet Feeders are great in the summer as the carp really have to approach the feeder from one angle. It's great when fishing tight to islands or far margins, as the carp will always approach your bait from the opposite side to your line," adds Andy. "The Pellet Feeder’s opening is perfectly position to encourage aggressive feeding."

Andy Findlay has broken his own longstanding personal best match weight with a staggering 288lb haul from Higham Lane Fishery in Leicestershire. He used shallow pellet tactics with Hollo Elastic, Reflo Power and PR36 hooks with PB Inter floats, not changing his rig once. "It's testament to the reliability of the gear," he told us. Well done Andy!
