Don't Stop Me Now

31st May 2011

Despite a badly injured hand, Welsh International Lee Edwards has been in the form of his life, with match results that have others looking on in awe.

Following his runner-up place at the Whiteacres Dynamite Baits Festival, he's since clinched the Maver Classic title at Larford, with some consistently impressive match weights.

"On day 1, I won on the Specimen Lake with over 100lb of fish, catching half on 8mm pellets fished on a straight lead, and the other half on big worms down the edge over Sonubaits' Tiger Fish groundbait," Lee recalls. "On day two over on the match lake, I was thinking it wasn't going to be my weekend with the first four hours producing hardly anything.

"Because of my hand, I was struggling fishing meat at 6m, but when I put some sloppy pellet into the peg to attract some skimmers, I quickly managed over 50lb of bream and carp to bring me romping home to victory."

Since, Lee's continued his good form back at Whiteacres again, with a 3rd place overall in the Milo Festival. Despite doing well and winning four days of the five, it was the fifth that day scuppered his result, with a terrible draw seeing him struggling.

"I lost an 8lb carp in the dying minutes of the match which would have won me my section and a subsequent £2,000 cheque!" Lee tells us. "To say the air turned blue would be an understatement!"

So that's five trophies in 7 festivals for Lee. Awesome stuff.

2nd Place in Dynamite Festival

April 2011

It's been a roller coaster few weeks for Lee Edwards, who recently enjoyed a runners-up spot at the Whiteacres Dynamite Baits Festival. Despite drawing some shocking pegs all week, Lee has managed a superb second place. "Most of the lads were buzzing about how I managed to score so well from such poor pegs, so it was a great result everything taken into account. "I won on Bolingey, catching carp using a 'dapping' method with meat, flicking the bait towards the fish. I used a Preston Tyson Dibber float, with a six inch hooklength. The meat sinks slower than pellets, which gives more chance for the fish to have a slurp at it." Since then, Lee's fishing has been hampered by a suspected broken hand. Despite his problem, he's managed 65lb of skimmers at Larford recently, fishing at 5m because of his injury. "I hope it doesn't effect my fishing too much. There's a busy schedule ahead."
