I suppose the notion of creating shorter rods goes against the grain in the minds of many anglers, simply because we have, to a large degree, become obsessed with making rods and poles more fishable at longer lengths.

But that would have been a classic case of missing the opportunity right under our noses, and with the rise in popularity of commercial fisheries and the modern trend of fishing the shallow waggler or pellet waggler for match-sized carp, it soon became apparent that something was missing to maximise sport and fish catching potential.

And that’s how the 11’ Mini Float models were devised. Basically, what we realised at Preston Innovations, was that match anglers were missing a trick in that there was an area of water, from the end of pole range out to 30 yards, that wasn’t being exploited properly. And so the Minis were created. But as much as they were devised for commercials and carp, they are also handy for small rivers when chubbing.
